Oral Health Sessions
We are concerned about the oral health of the very young and this project works with parents to improve knowledge to ensure that children have healthy teeth.
Our health development team deliver sessions in community venues, where there are parents of under 5's.
A rolling programme of workshops in venues accessed by the under 5’s e.g. children’s centres and nurseries. To improve oral health and diet. Oral health in this locality is the worst in the country and this programme is aiming to reduce the incidence of poor oral health.
The workshops consist of an informal chat with the parents of children under the age 5, giving them information and useful tips on how to improve their children’s oral health.
The sessions last around 15 minutes and usually parents leave with helpful knowledge which they then put into practice when looking after and cleaning their children’s teeth.
Also we give healthy snack options, how to spot early signs of tooth decay and provide a free toothbrush to every child who’s parents attend the workshops.
